Aileen holding a bouquet of flowers. Forty years later, Meagher told Hugh Townsend, Sports Editor, that despite the team's bronze medal, the team received little fanfare upon its return to Canada. Meagher recalled, ''There wasn't much of a welcoming. I was met at the station by my friends. The Herald and Mail gave me a bouquet of flowers . . . but that was about it. No fanfare.'' Townsend's story ''Memories of Berlin'' appeared in The Chronicle-Herald, 21 June 1976.[MG 1, vol. 2999, no. 1, between pp. 232-233]
